Dr Who Bow Tie Card or Tuxedo Card Tutorial with Stampin' Up! Supplies.

Hello,

As promised here is the tutorial for the Dr Who card from yesterdays post. 

You will need pretty basic tools for most of this; score board, bone folder, glue. I used the SU! Bigz Gift bow die and Borderlines stamp set with versamark to make this extra special. Finally I printed off a sonic screwdriver picture and adhered it inside the jacket. I am also going to have a go at making this in a Tuxedo style card, watch this space. Anyway, here is the Dr Who version :-)

 Start with an A4 sheet of card, this is early Espresso.

Score at 8cm along the longest edge

 turn it around and score again at 8cm

fold in each sides and re-enforce with your bone folder

Measure 13cm down and 2cm in at the top, from the outer sides, on each of the front sections.

Score between these points - to make this "v"

At the top measure 5.5cm in on each side from the outer edge

 Trim down from the 5.5cm mark to the 13cm point

 Fold out using your bone folder to re-enforce the score lines

Mark both sides at 3.2cm down (from the top edge) on the inside edge of the jacket.

 Notch out a square corner.

TOP TIP: Use a square punch if you have one ;-)
You can glue the lapels down at this point, I added glue to just the section above the notch.
TOP TIP 2: Use a wooden clothes peg to hold the lapels to the front while the glue dries.

 Measure down 4.2cm from the bottom of the lapel and add a stitched button hole with an Early Espresso Marker Pen, 

continue adding stitches all around each edge except the outer folded edges

 

To make a shirt from Soft Sky card:

Large Shirt Section: 11.5cm x 21cm

Centre Button Strip: 2cm x 21cm

Top strip: 2cm* x 21cm

Collar: 2 pieces; 5.2cm x 4.5cm across top. Trim to 5.2cm x 4cm at the bottom

*mine is 1.5cm deep but a second version (coming soon) looks better at 2cm deep

Add stripes with Borderettes stamps and Versamark at every 1cm

 Lay the shirt inside the card with equal gaps at each side

 Add glue to the left hand side ONLY, and only to the left hand edge of this side.

Close jacket front over to adhere the shirt.

 To make a pocket:

Pocket Size: 4cm (w) x 5cm (h), trim away bottom left hand corner. Add pen stitching.

Pocket Handkerchief: 6cm square, trim away bottom edge and fold. 

Add glue to top of pocket to adhere hankie

 

Add dimensionals and glue to the rear of the pocket and adhere to the card front running along the side seam...

...like so. Add your bow tie with glue and your buttons with Glue dots.

Add a 11cm x 20cm insert stamped with a sentiment.

And you're done! One Dr Who/Man's shirt and jacket card!

Dr Who Card for an 18th Birthday

Hello there!

I have a card today that took me a-g-e-s to make, figuring out all the details etc! But now I have all the measurements I think it would be a breeze to make multiples. Good job I have made a tutorial for you all to make them too! I'll share the card with you today and will be back tomorrow with the full tutorial.

Now, I made this version as a Dr Who card but you could easily "un"- doctor it and just make it a suit by adding a standard tie, a different (plain) bow tie or even turn it into a Black Tie event too. There are so many possibilities with this card by just changing a few details, just keeping the basic structure.

Anyway, I'll stop chatting and share the card with you now shall I? This picture shows how the card will  look on your shelf...

...but here it is held closed, it has a fair size overlap as a jacket would in real life! 

(that's a little magnet at the bottom, holding it closed) 

 The bow tie is Stampin' Up's gift bow bigz die. The paper is retired but I thought it was a perfect pattern for this card. I trimmed the "tails" of the bow so they were the same length as the loops, like a real bow tie would be. There are a couple of fab DSP with great patterns for this bow tie in the recently updated Clearance rack right now, links are at the end of this post but please  remember they are only while stocks last! These lovely Gold buttons are from the Autumn/Winter seasonal.

 Inside I added a sentiment, this one is from Perfect Pennants

Bonus! This card fits into a standard C5/A5 envelope too!

Mini Pizza Box with Kinda Eclectic by Stampin' up!

Helooo,

I know, I promised Dr Who today but I have just not had a chance to edit the photos for that card yet. I will do it very soon though, I promise ;-)

But, I do have a quick and easy little pizza box I made for a friend last week to send her a roll of Seam Binding ribbon in for her birthday (hope you have it already Ge!). Here's hoping then....

Now, I used the Kinda Eclectic stamp set again but just the leaves and butterfly today. Boy, does it look different when stamped onto So Saffron card with matching ink and a pop of Strawberry Slush too, don't ya think??

 This was a very easy box to make but if anyone is interested I can do a quick tutorial (next week ;-))? Let me know...

 Tag make with the Scalloped Tag Topper punch (nice and quick way to make pretty tags) and the (retired) Gift for You stamp. 

Love the Strawberry Slush thick twine too :-)
