Cross Over Card Tutorial

Hi Folks,
As a couple of people did request this tutorial, I have made one for you but I think it may be a bit long winded !!! Sorry!!! This is my first tutorial so please be gentle with me !!! Lots of piccies as I'm not very good at explaining when writing.

Equipment needed:
2x Square card blanks
Tombow Glue (or other wet glue)
1x Sheet of 12x12 DSP
SU! Tab punch
Ribbon
Thin and very sticky double sided tape
Decoration
I will let you know which materials I have used as the post goes on.
First of all you need your two cards (mine were from Craftworks Cards and are approx 14.8 cm square (just over 5,3/4 ") facing each other so one opens the wrong way.
Next you need to cut the wrong way round card down the back to leave a lip approx. the width of your DS Tape, DO NOT THROW THIS AWAY as it is your page for the inside! You then cut off half the front of both cards diagonally, as shown, and add your tape,
Using the Designer Paper, you will need to cut:
1x 14cm square for the front which you cut in half diagonally ,
1x 4.5cm x 12" (full length of the paper) strip,
1x approx 14x13cm for layering inside,
1x square of scrap white card (for joining the band),
1x 12x12.5 cm of white card for writing inside and
1x tab of blue card for the top.
I used Washington Apple DSP by SU! and as it is double sided I could have a different pattern on the inside and round the band, to that which is on the front.
Don't forget these measurements are for this size of card blank, please adjust accordingly !

Next I ink all the edges before I stick the paper down, TIP I use a cheap make-up sponge to ink my edges as it is small enough to handle and gives just the right amount of control ! See pic below for inked and non-inked. Remember Less is more when putting ink onto your sponge!

The next step is to glue all the pieces of paper onto your card blank and inside page, whilst the glue dries it's time to make the band. First of all you need to add ribbon to the paper, I use tape for this which I stick over the edges of the paper so I get it straight, as shown, then I stick the ribbon onto the tape again using the grid to apply in a straight line. TIP I use a barely wet brush of clear nail varnish on the ends of all my ribbon to prevent fraying.
I then glue 1/2 the scrap piece of paper to one end of the band and pull tightly around card, then you carefully slide it off and hold until the glue dries with paperclips,
Now the fun part! Whilst the glue is drying I get my decoration ready !
I used Oval all stamps, the Thank-You one for the border and the Best Wishes one for the sentiment on the top, Punched using the oval and scalloped oval SU! punches then it's layered and ready to go onto the band.
On the inside I used the flowers from One of a Kind stamp set inked in Bashful Blue and Pumpkin Pie, to match my papers, Punched with the co-ordinating Boho Blossoms punch,
Phew, Sorry it's such a long post but I think I have covered most things !!! Let me know what you think and remember this is how I make this card not necessarily the right or easiest way !! Although I think it is quite easy like this !!
Thanks for sticking in there and I will be back tomorrow with another crossover card I made for some-body the other day,
Happy Easter

Card for Nicky

Hello,

Super quick post today as we need to do something with the kiddies before they get cabin fever!!! This was another card I made for the same lady as yesterday (and yes, she did like them all , PHEW!!!) I added 'Nicky in die cut letters under the image in brown but, the picture was taken in poor light and didn't come out very well so I thought I would show you this one...

Miss Anya image coloured with pro-markers, SU! DSP at the top, some leftover coredinations card for the bottom and lovely little glass rainbow drops in the bottom corner, Ribbon from a box of chocs this Christmas !

Hope you all have a "Good Friday"

60th Rose is a Rose

Hello all,

Hope your day is going well, It's pretty grey here and has been raining on and off most of this morning :( I popped into the local supermarket this morning... BIG mistake, it was bedlam !!! Anyone would think they were shutting for a month!! Anyway onto the card for today...

First of all I would like to apologise for the photo, it's not the best and really doesn't do this card any justice, but I finished it V.V. late last night.

This was another order from hubby's work {{Thank-you Ladies}} and it is for a lady called Rose, well I just had to use this set didn't I ??! I stamped the first step in Summer Sun ink and Regal Rose was used for the second. I also added a bit of glitter to the roses with a glue pen, but it doesn't really show up on this piccie. Sentiment was computer generated.
I then used pretty in pink card stock for the first layer of the base card and covered the bottom half with Sweet Always patterned paper, join covered with Regal Rose 5/8" grosgrain ribbon. I did put a little rose head inside too, but alas no photo, sorry!
Well have a great rest of the day and I will do the tutorial for the cross over card for you in the next couple of days,
Bye for now, Sarah-Jane xx

Miss Anya

Morning All,

I have had loads of cards to make recently and this one is for a lady at hubby's work for her daughter, I hope she likes it ! I am also entering this card into this weeks CPS challenge which is a sketch.

For this card I used my lovely Anya stamps, coloured with pro-markers, paper is from the blog candy I won from Toni (thanks Toni x) edit to say: I have been reliably informed that this is PTI paper, so am also entering it for their challenge which is scallops this week, thanks x Felt trim down the side is from stash and if you look closely you will see I have dotted it with brads! (Jems challenge!), quite simple but if she likes it I may be adding a name to it later...

That's all for today, have a good one and thanks for any comments you may leave,

Hugs Sarah-Jane xx

More cards for men!!

Hello Folks,

Sorry it's a bit late today but I do have another mans card to show you! I would like to point out that the man this is for, is the partner of my friend and Alan, who I made 3 cards for last week, is her dad, consequently they all had to be different !!!!!! aaarrrggghhh!!!!!!!! lol.

Well I managed to make this cross over card for him using Summer Picnic papers, Tab punch, Oval All stamps and co-ordinating punches, Happy Birthday greeting from the Occasional Greetings Set, Earth Elements button with a little bit of Linen Thread and Old Olive 5/8" grosgrain Ribbon. All Stampin' Up and available through moi!

This is the inside sheet shown out of the wrap. Would anyone would like to know how I make these cards ? (my way, not necessarily the right way !!) Well, if enough of you leave a comment under this post I will do a little tutorial for you :)

Going to the cinema with kiddies tomorrow morning so I will try to schedule a post for then.

Hugs and hope you are all having a lovely week, Sarah-Jane xx

My card for Alan.

Morning all,

Just a really quick post today as we are going to go out for a bit later.
I have a card which I made on Friday night when all of us "Jems" got together for a cyber chat through the forum Julie has got set up for us. We had lots of chatting but our lovely SU! 'mum' also set us two challenges, the first one I won't show, as because it was done in a hurry, the DP slipped and went wonky :( (That one went into the bin!). The second challenge was to use Choc chip, Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery. I also needed a card to give to the famous (on my blog!) Alan for his birthday! and after making so many for him last week it seemed like a good idea to use this challenge as inspiration !

For this card I used Choc chip card stock with the polka dot background stamp, inked with versamark, my new Scene in a Garden set **from the mini catalogue** coloured with ink pads (certainly celery, pretty in pink- as per challenge- choc chip, close to cocoa and pale plum) and a water brush, and also Choc chip grosgrain ribbon. I added a circle of friendship sentiment the next day before I gave it to him but forgot to photograph it again #doh# Never mind, you get the idea don't you?! lol!
Will try to post tomorrow as I have a couple more cards on order but working tonight so not sure how much I will get done :)
***Blog Candy coming soon ***
watch this space...

Hope you all have a lovely day, Hugs, Sarah-Jane xx

Stamp with us Challenge

Hello again,
Just a quick post this time, I have been looking at the new blog Stamp with Us which is going to be fab, it will be doning lots of cool stuff but using mainly (or any!) Stampin' Up! products. Here are the two cards I have made following the first sketch.

For this first one I have used the lovely new Train and the smoke from the stamp set called "Choo Choo" (how sweet is that?!) and wheel "Right on Track" with the lovely Washington Apple papers (did I mention I love these papers?) , Bashful blue striped grosgrain ribbon and the essential oval punches all from the mini catalogue. I also used some Kraft card, Bashful blue card and scalloped circle punch from the main catty. Sentiment says "Congratulations.....on the birth of your beautiful baby!" and was a SAB free stamp set.
For this second card I used the lovely Summer picnic papers with the Cheers to You stamp set and co-ordinating wheel 'cheers'. I coloured the drink with my ink papds and a watercolour brush and all the small bits on the glass and wheel background with ink pads and a blender pen. I also layered the umberella and cherry on the glass. All matted onto Real Red cardstock. Corners on the base were done using the 1/2" circle punch which, when you turn it over, has a handy cross shape to line up your paper ( I will get a photo of it if anyone wants to see?) Scalloped circle punch used for the glass.
Thats all folks !
Not really very quick post at all in the end was it ? Thanks for sticking with it! assuming your not already asleep!! LOL!!
Hugs and have a good weekend, Sarah-Jane xx

Happy Retirement

Morning all,
Well it's grey and foggy here again this morning, but, it started out like this yesterday too and reached 20' by the afternoon ! Lets hope the same happens today!
Anyway onto today's card. I had a phone call from DH Wed lunchtime saying "can you make a retirement card today ? Oh and it needs to be done by tomorrow" -no pressure then eh ? lol ! This is what I came up with....

I used a sketch by Karen at The Sweetest Thing for speed! The stamp set is a papermania one and I used Haiku designer paper for the background, spiral punch for the top edge and very vanilla 1/4" grosgrain ribbon all SU! and available to buy through me, (Contact me details in side bar x). I paper pieced the golfer with BG Archaic papers as I thought the check was very Golfy! The recipient does a lot of 'work' on the course apparently!! Sentiment says "let the relaxation begin (happy retirement!)" and is from the SAB free Congrats set, buttons from stash.

Here is a quick piccie of the inside,

Sentiment from the same set, golf bag from same set as golfer.
Sorry about the dodgy pics, but as I didn't finish doing it 'till late and DH had to take it to work the next day I had to take these at night :(

Lastly for this post I have been given two awards from the lovely Ruby, Thanks hun and good luck with the move xxx

A hug award and a lemonade (which I have had already, so I won't show it again, but thank-you)
Back again soon with a couple more cards, gee I have been busy rofl !!!

I'm a Winner !! and a Card too !

Morning all,

I came home from work last night and just had a quick check of my blog only to see I had won a goody bag from Toni over at Cards and Candles, she has been celebrating her husbands birthday and their Wedding Anniversary all week! I am so excited (woo hooo) Thank-you Toni x
You should really go and check out her blog she is very talented and even managed to post lovely cards this week in between all the celebrations !!

Now onto today's card and guess what? it's another card for Alan !!!! I bet your fed up with seeing cards for Alan aren't you?? This will (hopefully) be the last one, for this year anyway lol!

I used SU! basic grey and Pumpkin pie card stock and Pumpkin pie grosgrain ribbon, I stamped all over the Grey card with the beer jug from cheers to you with versa mark. I then did the jug with Staz on and water coloured it using So saffron ink pad and a water brush onto whisper white card. Double layer on the head of the beer was an idea I saw by the very clever Alex, hope you don't mind hun ?! Wording was die cut from BG paper, Mate was a specification from the sender !!

Just a little bit of stamping from the cheers to you set inside, to take away the starkness of a plain white middle IYKWIM!
Have a lovely day and I hope it is sunny where you are too (I've already got 2 loads of washing on the line!)
Hugs, Sarah-Jane xx
