Card Candy Swaps

Hello,

As promised I have the gorgeous Card Candy I received in return for THIS that I made what seems like an age ago. I was unfortunately unable to go up to team training in January but still wanted to enjoy the inspiration, and it came back to me in bucket loads....

I don't have the beautiful Ornate Flowers set but I do have Fox and Friends and don't use it nearly often enough, it makes me want to go and play with it right now :-)

I don't have most of these stamps and so they inspire me to add them to my wish list, how long is yours? ;-)

and again I don't have this set, I love it when you get swaps when you don't have a stamp set, there is nothing like looking at it "for real"

I am off to the Ideal Home Show today so will hopefully have lots to tell tomorrow along with sore feet probably!

Swaps from Fareham

Hello,
I have finally gotten round to taking photos of the wonderful swaps I got in return for these mini egg baskets I shared with you last week, I would like to say a massive thank-you to all the ladies who swapped with me at training, I had a lovely time seeing all of you and came away totally inspired by it all, as usual :-D

I truly couldn't pick just one card out as I love them all!

and there are plenty here made with sets I don't have (and may now need) and also ones I don't use anywhere near enough and now I am inspired again to play with ;-)

Spiral Flower Tutorial

I have a had a couple of requests for a tutorial to make these little flowers as shown on THIS CARD so, as requested, here it is!

It is really very simple but with just a couple of little helpful hints along the way ;-)

Supplies needed are here. Just a couple of points here; I used both sizes of punched circles on the card above but for this tutorial I have used the 1+3/8", you can of course use either or both sizes. Also I would highly recommend using Tombow Glue as it dries quickly and very firmly, much faster than ordinary PVA, which is a real bonus! more on that later...

Next you need to cut a very basic spiral as shown, Top Tip here is don't be tempted to make a really narrow spiral, it is too hard to roll and hold and also make your flowers too flat,

Next, start rolling from the outside point,

Add a large dollop of glue to the flatish piece at the bottom,

Now, HOLD, for a good while ;-) perhaps 2 or 3 mins so the middle sticks well to the bottom. If you read yesterday's post this is why it took me far longer than it should have as I was making a few of these I kept letting go too early and they would spring up when I looked away! he he!

So, once the centre is stuck I would recommend leaving them sat under something heavy (like a punch) for a few more minutes, they are very sturdy so won't buckle under the weight, don't worry,

And that's it!

Of course you can always add the little Platinum shimmer paint to the rose to finish using a sponge dauber, Tip I get my paint from out the lid once I shake the bottle,

Diamond Wedding Wishes

Hi there,

Do you ever have one of those cards that start out simple, you think it will be easy(ish) in your head but yet it takes forever??? Well this card is one of those sort! I started with my (sadly neglected for too long) Medallion stamp, inking it with Platinum Shimmer Paint using a sponge dauber..

Then I moved onto making some pretty flowers except every time I let go of one of those little cuties it would be seem ok, I would turn round and up it had sprung...more glue, more holding, more sitting it under a punch! Lol! Obviously I need more patience?! Who? Moi?  I finished them off with a dab more shimmer paint.

Sentiment is computer generated and printed onto White Vellum Card stock, it is such good quality this vellum, so lovely and thick to use, I also added a few Stampin' Up! Basic Rhinestones to bling it up a bit,

and finally I added a little strip inside to finish it off,

Having said all that I am pleased with the final card, even if it did take a lot longer than anticipated ;-)

Happy Birthday Mum!

Good Morning to you all,

Today is my Mum's birthday and so I made her a card, we had her birthday tea last night as my sis is working this afternoon so she has had it already and I know I am safe to post today :-)

I have used the lovely Greenhouse Gala papers which are on offer at the moment for just £7.00, I think they are gorgeous but easily overlooked in the catty with the tiny pics ;-)  I also used the yummy Broadsheeet Alphabet to spell out "Mum", I LOVE this alpha! Happy Birthday is from Party This Way.

Now, my flower was inspired by the ones I did last week for the Golden Wedding card and also a swap I received at training last week made by Catherine, I thought it was yummy, don't you? Thanks for the inspiration Catherine x I am so happy the XL flower punch is now in stock, I used this loads! this one is punched from the same DSP and sprayed with shimmer paint,

I added a satin ribbon bow to the bottom to balance the card, {{still 1 SHARE left!}}

and a little pic of the decoration inside,

So, that's it from me today, I am going out for a coffee and cake with Mum at lunchtime but will be back tomorrow with a Diamond Wedding card for a friend,

Mother's Day Class '11

Hello there,

I have had a few days off from blogging as the kids a have been busy again, but normal service is resumed forthwith :-)

Today I have my Mother's Day class to share with you all, I still have a space or two for this class, dates are in my side bar <<<<< or email me for more info sarah-janerae@sky.com

So, at this class we will be stamping on a candle and making a matching card for your mum. Now, I know that everyone may not want to make this gift for Mother's Day so the sentiment can easily be changed for Birthday {or any other sentiment I have in my collection ;-)}

Here is the first sample for you, it uses the retired SAB set Sweet Summer, but it is just sooo perfect for this water colouring tecnique using the Blender Pens which are in this months promotion just so you know ....

 This sentiment is from Occasional Greetings and this one was blinged up with Dazzling Diamonds,

So, as the last set is retired I also made the gift set with a current stamp set called "Simply Said"

And I have used a sentiment from Curly Cute, (love it) and this one was embellished using the very sparkly Basic Rhinestones,

and here they are together, oh BTW, do you like my new little basket?? when I saw it I knew it would make a perfect pretty stand for my blog photos :-)

Swapping!

Good Morning,

As I said yesterday I attended SU! Regional Training in Fareham last Saturday. Now, when we get together at these fun events we demos make a whole bunch of {usually} card fronts to swap with our fellow demos.

Now, I didn't feel like making cards for a change so I thought I would make little Easter baskets, and yes, when I say little I mean they really are small, just over 1" square :-)

To make the baskets I used 2 of the "Petal Card XL Double" punch outs, it is a bit of a mouthful but the cutest punch out if you can say it! lol!

The image on the fronts of the baskets are from the Level 2 Hostess set "Cute By The Inch" you can earn this set FREE with a qualifying workshop, contact me to see how.

I popped the baskets and eggs into "Small Cello Bags" and tied them with some co-ordinating ribbon,

and here is a little close up of the pretty jewel colours, I only made 30 but I think next time I will make a few more as they ran out too quickly!

Lastly I must say a massive thank-you to the ladies I swapped with, I received a basket full of inspiration as usual, Thanks for swapping with me ladies xx

My B.Day cards :-)

Good Evening,

I am off out tomorrow into town to spend some of my birthday present pennies, So I thought though I would quickly pop on tonight and share some of the gorgeous cards I received for my special day, a massive thank-you to all who sent me birthday cards and wishes :-)

Now, my sweet daughter made both of these cards and I have to just to tell you a little story about the one on the right. She made it and showed DH, who said immediately "I will buy that one from you for mum if you like?" well, her little face lit up! he said to her "how much would like for it?" to which she replied as quick as a flash err, a tenner!! how I chuckled! needless to say she didn't quite get that much but I may try it myself next time DH needs a card ;-) lol!

and this lovely set was made for me by Laura which she gave to me at training on Saturday, we had a real laugh together Saturday and if you are interested in coming to the next Regional Training with me and SU! then why not drop me a line and we can have a chat?

And talking of training I will be back tomorrow with the swaps I made to take with me Saturday, I think they went down well, possibly though as they did contain chocolate!
