Here are a few FAQ's
To sign up with Stampin’ Up! you need to do so through another Demonstrator, who is called your upline. In the UK, there are more than 500 Demonstrators now, so why should you choose me?
I’m a positive, enthusiastic person who has a passion to create and share that with others. I love rubber-stamping and all of the high quality, co-ordinating products that Stampin’ Up! offer. I have been an active demo myself for over 3 years and am part of one of the most successful teams in the U.K.
By signing up with me, you would become part of my team (The Southern Belles) and I’ll provide you with all the help and support you need — but I will never push or pressure you to do more than you wish to – and that is a promise!
Whether your goals are to just support your paper-crafting or stamping habit, or you want to build a successful business, I am here to help. If you want to sign up just for the discounts and never run workshops, that is fine - you can join and get a great discount for you and your family and friends. I will be here for you at all times – all you have to do is call or email me!
I regularly post on my 'Team Only' blog sharing information and ideas, so whether you are a demonstrator who has joined to get your discount, or if you are intending on building a business that fits in with the hours you want working from home, there will be something to interest you on this blog.
I also share all of my classes, projects, designs and instructions with my team so they can use that as a resource for their own classes if they wish. I love my Stampin’ Up! business and my team are a vital part of that business.
This is absolutely the best job - sharing and teaching paper-crafting and rubber-stamping isn’t really work though, is it? I get to regularly meet with like minded people and share this wonderful hobby that has become my job. You can achieve all the things I have and more if you so wish, the opportunity is there it just needs to be grabbed with both hands.
I would love you to join my team for the friendship, support, inspiration and fun we share. You will find answers to some of the frequently asked questions about becoming a demonstrator here.
What will I do as a demonstrator?
You will share your love of paper crafting, creating cards, gifts or scrapbook pages with family and friends. You can do this through running home workshops, classes, events or even on a one to one basis. If you choose to, you will also help others enjoy the fun and flexibility of running their own Stampin’ Up! business.
Will I receive support and training as a demonstrator?
By joining, you will become part of my team and I’ll provide you with all the help and support you need but you also get support from Stampin’ Up! too:
1. A password protected demonstrator website which has lots of resources, patterns, template libraries and an on-line ordering system.
2. A full colour monthly magazine called Impressions with creative and business ideas just for demonstrators.
3. A free phone number to contact the knowledgeable and friendly Demonstrator Support team.
4. An achievable incentive program for income and awards if you choose to aspire to them.
5. Regular local field training dates throughout the year.
How will I make money as a demonstrator?
Since customers pay you directly, you will keep 20% of each order placed at the time of payment, this is called “instant income”. You can earn additional money through volume rebates when your monthly sales are £200 and above. If you build a team, you can also earn monthly downline overrides as well.
Do people really make money at this?
YES!! Depending on how much time you want to put into “your” business, you can make whatever income you desire! It is totally up to you!
Do I have to recruit other demonstrators?
Of course not!! Having a downline is not a requirement, it is a perk - we have the opportunity to earn a commission based on our downline’s sales! However, it is also a responsibility. You will need to support your team and give them training to help them achieve their goals.
What are the minimum sales requirements?
To stay active as a demonstrator you will need to sell a minimum of £250 in commissionable sales per quarter (after the VAT). Most demonstrators find that this goal can be reached in one or two workshops per quarter–or with their own purchases. Your first quarter target doesn’t start until the quarter following the quarter that you join. i.e. if you join on 1st October, you do not have to have meet your first minimum target until 31st March!! – so it can actually be nearly six months to start with.
What if I only want to do this as a hobby? Do I still have to do workshops?
Absolutely not!! Stampin’ Up! supports all demonstrators in the same way, regardless of how big or small their business is - you only need to do workshops if you want to. You can put in your own orders or collect orders from family & friends.
Do I have to hold stocks of product?
No. You will only order items when someone places an order and pays you in advance, so you won’t need to keep stock of products and no chasing payment either.
How much does it cost to get started?
The Starter Kit is only £119 for more than £230 of product. This kit is customisable (choose your own stamp sets at equivalent or lesser value and you may change ink and cardstock colours too). It includes everything you will need to get your business up and running including stamps, accessories and business supplies. You do not need anything else apart from your Starter Kit to be able to begin workshops straight away. There is also the option of a Scrapbooking add on kit for £50, this contains over £80 worth of product but can only be purchased in conjunction with the main starter kit.
What if I decide it’s not for me once I’ve started? Will I be penalised if I quit?
You simply stop placing orders. If you don’t meet the minimum quarterly requirement, you just “resign” - no questions asked! Well apart from me…….. I’ll check to make sure you are okay and ask if I can help, but if you’ve decided to finish, that’s fine. I guarantee that once you get started, you won’t want to stop!! You will not owe anything back to Stampin’ Up! Your starter kit will remain yours to keep forever.
What kind of incentives will I receive as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator?
As a new demonstrator, you will have the opportunity to earn up to 15 free stamp sets during your first six months for your sales and recruiting achievements.
You receive a 30% instant income on your first workshop order of £150 or more if you place it within 45 days of signing up.
You have the ability to be your own “hostess” and earn free hostess sets and products on your own personal orders or orders that you collect from others.
You can work to achieve the annual incentive trip - the current trip is an all expenses trip to Vienna, and Stampin’ Up! gives you five ways to earn it through sales and promotions of your team - it is achievable!
Where do I get ideas for my workshops?
Stampin’ Up! has many resources for demonstrators, including the Idea Book & Catalogue, a great monthly magazine, a fantastic website for demonstrators only, a DVD in the starter kit, and much more. You will also have my help and support.
Are there any Stampin’ Up! events that I can attend as a new demonstrator?
Yes, Field Training Events happen several times throughout the year. We had one in Southampton in February and there is another in September in High Wycombe. Stampin' Up! also run and host a European Stampin’ Up! Convention to be held in Disneyland Paris in November 2011, which promises to be unmissable!
I hope I have answered some of your questions. I would love to share more about this amazing opportunity with you. If you have further questions or would like more information, please ask! Your demonstratorship is as individual as you are.
