Inspire. Create challenge #45: Embossing

Hello and welcome to another week with Inspire. Create Challenges :-)
This week the theme is embossing. Now, you can use either dry embossing (folders) or heat embossing so using ink and embossing powder, or both, for this challenge. We would just like to see your makes with any kind of embossing!
As I'm sure you have noticed  I love to heat emboss so this was a no brainer for me.
I wanted to use the Free As A Bird set in class this week so this is one of the card we made there too...
I started with a watercolour wash on shimmer card and added a splatter of both same colour ink and some white shimmer paint.
We then added the leaves and flowers, made by stamping both and then watercolouring using the stamped images and a little extra of the same colour ink. This gives this loose washed look to the images.
TIP: Be careful not to over work the images as they'll lose their definition.
And yes, we fussy (hand) cut all these leaves and flowers but it didn't take toooo long... and the end result was worth it, don't you think? ;-)

I wanted a crisper image for the bird so I stamped in Memento ink and heat embossed it with clear powder so it was waterproof for watercolouring. While it's not absolutely necessary to heat emboss I prefer to when I want to work with a looser wash of ink, like here.
So, that's all from me for today, to see lots more "embossing" inspiration and to add your own make head over to the challenge blog HERE.
Thanks for stopping by today!
I'll be back soon with more, 'till then, happy stamping :-)

Winter Woods Emboss Resist Christmas Card

Hello :-)
I'm here today with a card that has been heat embossed  to the max! I think the Winter Woods bundle is the set I've used most this festive period - and please be prepared for quite a few more cards with this set coming soon ;-) - it's super versatile for both traditional colours and more modern cards and I can see me using it for mens cards throughout the year too.
But back to today's make. I went with a cool navy, white and silver colour combo for this card, let's see...
I started by stamping and heat embossing in white, two lots of the cluster of trees on white card. Then, using a sponge brayer (super fun and easy too!) I added the navy ink over the top. I then splattered the whole piece with white shimmer paint, (so happy that's back)
After brushing the edges directly with my Versamark ink pad and heat embossing in silver, to get this frosted window effect, I added some silver thread and a plain, uninked "Festive Farmhouse Elements" sentiment.
This card is so lovely in real life so I do hope some of that is captured in these pictures?
So, that's all from me for today, I'm hoping to have more cards photographed and to share with you very, very soon :-D
'Till then, Happy crafting!

Winter Woods in Gold

Hello there,
I have an elegant gold card using the new stamps and dies from the new Autumn/Winter catalogue called Winter Woods. Let me show you...
I stamped the solid tree using Versamark and heat embossed using gold powder then die cut the second tree and popped up the "branches" before using the versamark again to add ink to the raised tips before heat embossing again.
It's hard to see the popped up bits in a picture but it does give a real 3d feel to it.
TIP: I used thick white card for the die cut tree as it holds up a bit better for the pop out sections.
I kept the rest of the card fairly plain so as not to detract from the tree images!
OK, that's all from me for today, I'll be back tomorrow with another make :-)

Dandelion Wishes with Brusho in Navy

Hello!
For todays make I played with my Brusho Ink Crystals on watercolour paper teamed with Dandelion Wishes which I heat embossed in silver...
I really love the intensity of colour you get using these crystals and I wanted to make a wash effect background. To create this I started by adding water to the paper, adding the crystals then using my aqua painter I brushed over the area to make a solid colour.
TIP: The tiny Brusho crystals go everywhere! Make sure you have grid paper (or scratch paper) underneath where you are working and I make sure to throw the sheet away as soon as I've finished with the colour I'm using and wipe the area down so it doesn't transfer onto my next project.
I used a couple of off cuts from the Twinkle, Twinkle DSP under the silver dandelions and as a tab at the top too.
Finish with a few sequins and some silver thread.
This card is so me! I love navy and watercolour washes and heat embossing and sequins... Well, you get the idea ;-)
Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed today's card too and I'll be back tomorrow with more.
'Till then, happy stamping!

Floral Statements using the Stamparatus

Hello and welcome to the weekend and todays makes!
Today's card is another I made four of at the same time (again :-)) and today I used the Floral Phrases stamp set. I love this pretty sentiment set! For this make I used Pink Pirouette (which is just retired) but you could easily swap it out for Powder Pink and teamed it with Tranquil Tide to make these cards...
I used my Stamparatus to stamp the image in Memento black ink then again using Versamark before heat embossing it with clear powder so they were super easy to watercolour.
I used an aqua painter and matching ink pads to colour, letting the first coat dry (speed it up with a heat tool if you like) before adding a second lot of watercolour on thick white card.
These cards make such a fab, bold statement but because it's just one stamp they are surprisingly quick to make! Bonus!
Well, I do hope you liked todays cards? I'll be back tomorrow with all the SU! news for July!
