TicTac Easter Treats. Full FREE Tutorial!

Hi there,
I bet your wondering where the heck I've been the last couple of weeks? Well, I have had to concentrate on work at home, what with my craft room needing a serious amount of my time once I decided to shelve it and then organise and tidy (eek!) of course! (a full tour will be here soon), as well as this I have had a few bits of decorating at home to do (downstairs bathroom and some shelving in the kitchen to put up), plenty of magazine projects to make, classes to design and run and of course the children have been off the last couple of weeks too :-)
Anyway, I have at least 10 cards to share with you over the next few days but in a small apology for my absence from the old blogeroo this last couple of weeks I have a full picture tutorial to share with you today making these little Easter treat holders for your Tic Tac's.
As ever if you have a go and then blog your creations please do link back here and if you don't have a blog I would still love to see your creations :-)
So, the holder, it uses minimal supplies of just card, ink (I used versamark which works great on any colour card except white and cream), trimmer/scorer, bone folder, scallop edge punch and the ever useful Word Window Punch.

How to make this little holder...
*remember you can click on the pictures to make them larger*
Trim a 7cm wide strip the length of your A4 card, shorten to 25.7cm long.
Top Tip: to make multiples score first then trim
 Score at 2cm, 4cm, 7.5cm, 9.5cm, 16.5cm and 18.5cm
TIP: To make sure the stamping is the correct way up when folded ensure the  2cm score line is at the top and mask off the centre largest section (between 9.5cm and 16.5cm) and stamp your images the right way up.
Obviously if you are stamping with images that have no "right way up", flowers for example, then just stamp all over without worrying.
mask the stamped areas and reveal the centre section, stamp again but this time turn your stamps so your images are upside down :-)
re-enforce your score lines with a bone folder
flip the holder round so the 2cm score line is at the bottom and punch the top section (above the 18.5cm score line) with a scallop edge punch
measure and mark a line between the 2cm and 4cm score lines at 3cm
ensure the word window punch is central across the width of the card and then use the line to ensure the correct depth. Punch.
move the punch up slightly and trim an extra sliver off the top of the window
repeat at the bottom to make the window wider, erase any pencil lines now and neaten the sides.
check your Tic Tac's fit in the slot, if not trim a bit more away using the punch
add tape or glue to the 2cm flap at the bottom
line up the flap carefully and adhere making sure this bottom section is square (well, rectangular ;-))
TOP TIP:  using your grid paper makes this easier
your tic tac's should now fit in like this :-)
use a glue dot to secure the top down, again ensure it's nice and square, check from the side.
then decorate, these die cut felt bunnies were from paperchase last year in the sale and some retired ribbon decorate mine :-)
 side view..
and here are the ones I made for Easter for the children
This one was made with the Petit Petals stamp set, no masking was necessary for this version ;-)
 and finally together
OK, lots of pictures but pretty straight forward I'm sure you will agree? Thanks for hanging  in there with me :-)
I hope you liked today's post and I'll be back tomorrow with a card for you.
Thanks for looking today,

Mrs Clause Dress Up Tag with FREE TUTORIAL

Hello there,
Back to Christmas again today! I wanted to give the ladies coming to my all day Christmas Kick Start class a bag with their papers, ribbons and gems etc in but it also had to be big enough to take all their hand made cards home in.
**Please Scroll Down for the Mrs Clause Dress Tutorial**
I found these lovely paper bags but of course I had to decorate them so I turned to my Big Shot with the ever useful Top Note die and Dress Up framelits too...
So, the ladies who chose red a their colour scheme had this tag on their bags, the bottom half of the Crumb Cake die cut is decorated with more of the Season's of Style paper, and of course Mrs Claus' dress which I made in Real Red
I used the new Gold Ink pad with the snowflake from the Hostess set Warmth and Wonder to decorate the top section, message me to find out how you can get your own hostess exclusive Warmth and Wonder stamp set ;-)
and the "Blue Ladies" had this bag tag, I used Winter Frost Paper at the bottom of these Whisper White tags with the new Silver ink using the same snowflake from Warmth and Wonder
I made Night of Navy Mrs Clause dresses for the blue bags ;-)
and a few of the blue bags together,
So, these are the dresses and I tried a couple of ways but this method was by far the quickest and most effective way of  making these dresses easily.
So, in addition to the Dress Up framelits you need this; the 1+1/4" scallop circle punch
Also making these dresses was made a lot easier with the Magnetic Platform as it significantly reduced "slippage" making multiples much easier; although, of course, it's not essential.
Punch from white card a scallop circle, you don't need the whole thing, just leave off the bottom 5 scallops when you punch
then (and you can do two (or three max) at at time with the Magnetic Platform but I would suggest just one layer at a time without it) die cut the sweetheart neckline from scallop circles like so, making sure the point is in the centre of the scallop at the bottom,
Adhere to your already die cut dress and decorate with 3mm Taffeta ribbon (I used Silver and  Black)and a small flower in the centre of the "belt" from the Punch Pack
*Remember, you can click on any of the pictures if you want to make them larger*

{I did try to add the punched shape whole and trim from the back but as the collar of the dress comes in at the top it was not only tricky but wasn't as neat as this and definitely took longer, it can be done but I wouldn't recommend it ;-)}

Well, I hope you have enjoyed today's post as much as I did making these little Mrs Clause dresses?
Thanks for stopping by and remember to link back here if you make some of your own, I would love to see yours too :-)

Side Step Card Tutorial

Hello,
I love it when you make projects using my tutorials but please be sure to link back here and give credit when you make and post to your blog.
Thank-you for your understanding and I hope you enjoy this tutorial xx
I know, long time no see! but I promise you once the 1st of April comes you will see what I have been playing with for the last few weeks, {another great benefit to being a demo ;-)} but before that I have a new tutorial for you.
I made this side-step card for my daughters birthday and I know loads of people have been making these for a little while but I had a lot of trouble getting the one I tried to make to stand well and fold flat, so I adapted it and played around with it to make this, my version, of a side step card. I, in no way claim to be the inventor of this card, just the adaptor of measurements. Oh yes, and they are in cm's too :-D
So, to start with you need a whole sheet of A4 card, this will give you a finished card in A5.
I lined up my card stock at 8cm in along the short edge, long length going down the cutter (you can adapt this width to suit) and cut from 4cm in along to 22.5cm as shown,

Now flip the card so you are now working on the long side. Change the cutting blade for a scoring blade (or use a bone folder) and score the at 14.8cm or A5 (half A4).
**Now, the key point here is not to flip your card stock in the trimmer to make it easier to see (I wonder how I know this?? ;-))**
Keeping the card in the same direction (ie: working on the long side) on the narrower (bottom) section score at 4cm, 8cm, 11.8cm, 15cm and 22.5cm.
And this is what it should look like... Apologies, it's not the easiest thing to photograph.
Now, I folded mine into position just gently at first, rather than doing each fold crisply. Then when I was happy it would fold flat I creased it properly with my bone folder, if that makes sense?
And this is what it should end up like! {{please excuse the mess behind}}
I hope this was of a help to someone today and you can go HERE to see the fully decorated card :-)
