A Butterfly Basics by Stampin' Up! Weekend: Day Two

Hello,

And welcome to day two of my mini series for this weekend using Butterfly Basics :-)

So, if you read yesterday's post you'll have seen that I made the card there first but I decided that, as much as I liked it, I felt it was a bit better suited to the autumn or winter (because of the colours) and so I wanted to lighten and "summer" the card up.
Shall we take a look at the new card I made? ...

I used a So Saffron, Smoky Slate and white colour combo for this version and changed out the hardwood background stamp for the new Brick embossing folder.
I also changed out the fern (which I stamped in old olive yesterday) for wild wasabi today.

The so saffron butterfly was stamped onto white card before being die cut out.

I *heart* thick twine and now we sell it in smoky slate!!

So, the same card, but different! 

A few simple changes give a totally different look don't you think?

Next time you're stuck for new ideas why not try looking back at some of the cards you've already made and change them up for a totally different look?

A Butterfly Basics by Stampin' Up! Weekend: Day One

Hello,

I've had a lovely day today in the first day of my Watercolour Wishes Kit Class. It really is the loveliest kit I have seen!! The directions are fab and very detailed and you can easily make gorgeous cards with very little effort but of course I decided to make mine, well, all but one card, differently from the directions and it was a blast! it really is a kit for everyone at any level. I'll take some photos of my makes in the week and share my ideas with you too. 

But on to today's card. I was designing cards for my last class and I came up with this card that I'm sharing today first. But then I thought it was a bit "wintery" looking so decided to lighten it up for the time of the year. So I'll share my second version (the one we made at the class) with you tomorrow and make these two cards, using Butterfly Basics, a mini theme for this weekend :-)

So, let's see this first card. If you have been here before you'll recognise that this card  is based on some of my previous makes (you can see them here, clicking "older posts" to see more). This one uses a crumb cake base with the Hardwood background stamp and teamed with Blackberry Bliss and the Butterfly Basics stamp set...

 I added flowers using the Petit Petals punch and the flower from the Itty Bitty Accents punch set.

 This butterfly was also stamped onto crumb cake card before being die cut.

 and al finished off with some silver sequins from the sequin trim

Stampin' Up's Hardwood, Painted Petals and From My Heart stamps with more Heat Embossing!!

Hi there,

 I was playing with the Blushing Bride embossing powder (making THIS CARD) and wanted to see what results I would get when I teamed it with the Hardwood Background stamp and Painted Petals stamps. I love how when you heat emboss the stamping behind doesn't show through so gives a totally different look to the just stamped version, take a look...

 I stamped the Hardwood background first in Crumb Cake; then added the leaves, finishing by heat embossing the flowers and then the sentiment.

 Blushing Bride embossed flowers with stamped Pistachio leaves

This gorgeous sentiment is from the From The Heart stamp set, I heat embossed it using white powder and went over it with a sponge dauber and crumb cake ink to highlight.

 I was happy with this little card, I like how stamping onto white card makes it fresh and spring like too :-)
