Smitten Mittens in Gold and Navy

Hello there and thanks for visiting me here on Christmas Eve!
I have one last hurrah of Christmas cards today but I don't just have one card, oh no! I have three (albeit similar) cards to share with you today :-) So let's have a little look, shall we?
I actually made five of these cards, all inspired by some lovely navy felt I had ordered this week :-)
Both the sentiments are from the Hearts Come Home stamp set.
TIP 1: I used a gold sharpie to colour the pearl (or an enamel spot would work too) to hang the mittens.
And I also used the pen to edge the sentiment...
TIP 2: Hold both the pen and the sentiment facing upwards, that way if you slip with the pen it will be on the reverse.
I love the Pinewood Planks embossing folder and it's so versatile. My New Years resolution is to use this folder much more often!
And all three of them together to finish today.
Well, that's all my Christmas cards this year! And I managed to blog them all before Christmas! Things are looking up :-)
I'd just like to take this moment to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and I hope you have a wonderful time with those you hold near and dear.
Thank you for your continued support and I'm look forward to sharing lots more with you in the upcoming weeks and months xxx

Smitten Mittens with Year Of Cheer DSP

Hello!
Today's card is a super simple make and again makes the most out of SU! DSP. Today I used the Year Of Cheer papers with the mitten dies from the Smitten Mittens bundle. These papers are really lovely IRL as every sheet is foil embossed. That makes this card quick but sparkly! A perfect combination, I'm sure you'll agree...
I also added a Tinsel Trim knot at the top of the card for the twine to sit around.
I stamped the background using night of navy ink and the matching stamps but the sentiment is from the Hug in a Mug stamp set, how well does that work with these mittens?!
Right, I'm off to Birmingham later today as tomorrow is On Stage, Stampin' Up's bi-annual event for upcoming products! I can't wait, not just for the stamps (of course), but to catch up with all my long distance SU! buddies!
I will schedule a few posts here though so don't worry, there'll still be plenty to see. And of course, I'll be posting updates, when I can, on Instagram so be sure to follow me there too!
Thanks for looking today,

Smitten Mittens For Inspire. Create. Challenges. A Second Card For Challenge #002

Hi there,
Following on from my post on Wednesday where I shared my make using the new sketch challenge that's currently running over at Inspire. Create. Challenges I wanted to share the second (of three) cards I made using the sketch! This card follows the sketch a little more loosely but you can still see the general shapes, with a diagonal background and a front panel (mittens) over the top, take a look....
OK, so to make this card:
Create a watercoloured ombre effect on watercolour paper using ink pads and a square paintbrush. Paint a loose wash using Soft Sky blending into Pool Party then Marina Mist and finally Night Of Navy onto (already damp) paper. Heat set for speed then trim the sides to 10.5cm across and lastly cut at an angle.
Lay the top section of watercolour paper over a white card base (without sticking), stamp the sentiment in Navy to the left then again in Marina Mist either side until the diagonal gap is filled. Adhere the paper under it and trim away excess.
I used a new mini dimensional to pop up a metal rimmed pearl to make a 'hanger' for the mittens.
Finally the die cut and layered mittens (with Champagne Foil backing, so pretty!) were hung using tinsel trim...
Well, I do hope you will join in with this challenge?! and for more ideas please got to the Inspire. Create blog to see what the other DT members have made too!
Back tomorrow with a Halloween project and a blog hop so tons more inspiration! Hope to see you then :-)
